There appeared a "man of mystery" on the scene, one Herr Gillstrom, whose title was Geheimerad. This was originally a German title and is now obsolete, therefore rather difficult to translate. The nearest approach to a literal translation isCounsellor, He came to this part of Blekings, from whence no one knew, and bought a large estate. He seemed to be fairly rolling in wealth, but no one everlearned from what source he derived his wealth, the title it seems being merely nominal. His household consisted of himself, his wife, an an adopted daughter, and a host of servanrts.........
