After graduation from there, Katherine stayed with Moris and Angeline Knapp (grandparents0 who had purchased a home in Elmira. She started at the Elmira Free Acadamyin 1917, graduating in 1921. From there she went on to Geneseo Normal School during the summer and started teaching that same Fall at the Pine City School.
