N.Y. mentions David and Martha Miller, Elizabeth Knapp, Mary Bartholmew, Bethia Dunham, of Athens, Pa. George Sayer, Emma Harris, Jefferson, Wis., Henry Jones and HenryKnapp Exct. In the census of 1850 he was a farmer, age 58 with $2000. William T. Knapp and his brother John H. Knapp were at the first meeting of the Town of Southport in 1822. John was appointed assessor and William was appointed Highway overseer. It was probably John H. Knapp who built the farm house on Dry Run Road in 1830. This name and date were under the clapboards in the house. John also built a Southport mill which he used as a grist mill. William T. was a Justice of the Peace as was his son, Henry Benedict Knapp later on. |
