Shared note | [Sloan.ged] Sixth generation James and his brother Wesley lost their father at an early age and their Mother re-married a Mr. Underhill. The family survived the "Great Fire of Miramachi" in 1825. 6, 000 square miles burned and future event were dated as "after the fire". James and family were among those listed who had received assistance for re-building their home. About 1838 James and family moved to Maine. He eventually purchased 140 acres of land and in 1849 sold for non-payment of taxes. |
