[Sloan.ged]Having resigned as Lay Reader in 1780, Philip moved from St.
MarkÕs Parish, Culpeper Co., where he had been Clerk of the
Vestry in 1771, to Pittsylvania Co., where his name appears on
the Tax List for 1785 when ten white people were listed with
him. He married, in 1766, Martha Awbrey, daughter of Chandler
Awbrey, of Westmoreland Co. According to family tradition he
was a captain in the Revolutionary War.@S11@
