Jessie was born in Scotland and as a young man moved with his father to Ireland and he was twice married. The first official deed showing Jessie in America was a deed for 100 acres of land in 1722 , costing him 60 lbs, which states that he isfrom "Billerica, County of Middlesex, Mass. Bay Colony." This is where many colonists spent their first winter after having arrived at Boston Harbor (circa 1718). The deed was for land in Londonderry N.H. , a Presbyterian community
When he came to America with his father he left his two sons from his first marriage with his brother, Peter, in Northern Ireland.
